January 2023 #234

Title; January 11th
Prose; Waiting to cross the street, a car in the nearest lane comes to a quick stop at the crosswalk. I begin to walk across, taking a look up the second lane. A semi is barreling down and I pause. Suddenly, creaking metal, the release of air, and the smell of burn oil. The truck settles with a sigh of relief. The sound of footsteps.
Photograph; A crevice in a sidewalk filled with water, stones, sticks, silt, and an autumn leaf in winter.
Haiku; at the mountain pass / a crevice of winter dew / unfolds a flower
