a thread of branches
patch quilt sown by many hands
color flows -brittle
in a crooked line
moist scent of soil and moss
a robin hopping
I lower my gaze
looking down at a night sky
shade of a park bench
Intimate details in nature
a thread of branches
patch quilt sown by many hands
color flows -brittle
in a crooked line
moist scent of soil and moss
a robin hopping
I lower my gaze
looking down at a night sky
shade of a park bench
afternoon showers-
from under winter’s blanket
spring sprouting snowdrops!
slice of window light-
a field of sparkling diamonds
on her bare skin
waterfall roaring
the dripping of melting snow
weaves a melody
under the branches
sunken leaves and cloudy skies
daytime-nighttime dreams
slick as ice -I slip!
treading waters and branches
meandering clouds
pure water stirring
waves trickle across the sand
February thaw
wonderful ruckus!
snowmelt flows -a babbling stream
two-year-old grandson
river of starlight
snowmelt pond an empty sky
cattail seeds shimmer
winter storm winds cease
froth from soaring waves adrift
Palouse rolling swells
waning winter moons
above melting snow -listening
worms till underneath
I’ve never noticed
pine trees sewing needle lace
until last night’s snow

silent winter song
a bow stroke from frog to tip
without a quiver
I spent last week quietly: off of the computer, no pencil and paper, email or reading. My schedule allowed me to walk in the early morning or afternoon. Below are photographs taken during the week, one for each day:
